Community Lodge

It has been a long while since any renovation work has been done on our Lodge, but everyone is encouraged to see the old building getting some love.  New windows and doors are bringing in much needed weatherproofing and more light.  Some inside clearing out and cleaning-up is bringing promise of welcoming in more community activity. Stay tuned! Send your ideas on our attached “What’s on Your Mind Sheet”, page 5.

Mail Trail

Notice to mailbox users:

Have you noticed more and more mailboxes on our Mail Trail?  The number of boxes has just exploded!  Our Mail Trail has constant activity these days.  Bet you did not know that this trail is private property of Clear Creek Pines Property Owners’ Association and that for over 50 years only a handful of folks have been supporting, maintaining, and carrying the insurance for all our community’s use of this property and Mail Trail?  We get it.  Now that you know, we really need your help in keeping this property open to the entire community. (cont.  page 2)

Friendship Park

Sometimes you just need a moment alone.  Perhaps a short walk and a sit in the park would
pg. 1
be the perfect moment. Our picnic table is also an idyllic setting for a hand of cards, tic-tac-toe, or a game of chess. Whatever brings you a respite, consider spending a moment in the park.

Community Well

Our community well supplies water to paying members.  This well’s water is tested regularly and continues to pass all requirements for safety.  If you are a resident of CCP 8 & 9 and need water, an annual fee can be paid through our website at clearcreekpines89.com. It has come to our attention that residents of communities outside of 8 & 9 are accessing and using our community well.  The only way this can happen is for them to be given the well code by a paying member.  This is not only prohibited, but if caught, the member will lose his/her well rights and the non- 8 & 9 resident will be reported to law enforcement.

Wellness

Welcome Lettie!

Ever wished you had better access to medical care?  Your wish has just come true!  The property owners’ association is welcoming Register Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Lettie Ryan, RNNP!   Located right here in our Community Lodge. (cont. page 2)

Forest Sports

Our local Fire Station is now accepting applications for Volunteer Firefighters.  For more information on our fire conditions and for applications, go to their website at http://www.brfdaz.org.

Love to hike?  A handy app for finding hiking trails in our neck of the woods is AllTrails.  Remember to take ample water and wear shoes with a bit of traction.  Walk and hike with a buddy and let someone staying at home know where you are going.

Mail Trail (cont. from p1)

Like everything else in our daily lives, the cost of this project has skyrocketed. Fixing things along with maintenance of the trail plus property and liability insurance now requires all of us to pitch in. Our bean-counters have calculated all our costs. This ongoing cost divided up amongst all users is an annual amount of $50.00. Those of us who are members of Clear Creek Pines Property Owners’ Association are exempt as it is covered in the annual membership dues.

If you want to keep this Mailbox access going as much as the association, we need your help. We are making it easy. Just Become a Social Member of CCPPOA. The cost of this membership is only $50.00 per year and provides some other benefits as well. Please take a look at the attached spread sheet for details on all memberships available. All membership fees are due annually January first. This gives you some time to be prepared. Starting in December we will have forms for you to fill out. You will have the option to write a check, and deposit into our CCPPOA mailbox located near the bulletin board, or pay online at clearcreekpines89.com.

Wellness (cont. from p1)

Lettie’s hours will be alternating weekends from 8am to 5pm and telehealth appointments will be available throughout the week:
Mondays 3pm-7pm
Wednesdays 4pm-7pm
Fridays 4pm-7pm
Lettie plans on welcoming appointments late summer. We look forward to that opening announcement. Services will include primary care including routine physical exams, pre-operative clearance (including EKG readings), school and sports physicals, sick visits, and management of chronic diseases (diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, gout, GERD, etc.). We will also have a Sonora Quest Lab on site and will be able to collect blood and urine samples. We are contracted with Medicare, as well as most major insurance carriers. Contact Lettie at 928-951-5500.

If it is a BIG organization announcement let us know and we will do our best to get it into our locked bulletin board. Call or text Maurice at 602-989-2661. We highly encourage you to take advantage of the bulletin board. This Life on the Rim Newsletter cubbie is only for the Newsletter.

Library

Our community has been greatly blessed to have enjoyed an all-volunteer-managed library inside our Lodge.  We tip our hats and say, a “Big Thank You!” We are transitioning into a 24/7 Little Library that will be located at the cover patio on the west side of the building.  This is an honor system sharing-library where we all can leave books and take books.  If you take a book, magazine, or video, you do not need to return that exact item.  However, to keep the library full of good choices, the next time you swing by, bring a few items to share!  We need a volunteer/s to steward our library.  If you are interested, please let us know on the “What’s On Your Mind” page.

For Sale

This is where you can advertise items that you would like to sell, for instance, autos, equipment, building supplies, and property.

Cabin Food

Refrigerated Pickles a la Provenché Family (Makes 1 quart)

An easy way to preserve fresh veggies. We use these tangy, crisp, slightly sweet pickles to elevate our salads, sandwiches, and charcuterie boards.
  • 2 medium carrots, peeled, cut into coins
  • ¼ head cauliflower, cut into small florets
  • ½ large red or white onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 jalapeno, end trimmed, and seeds removed if very hot, sliced or ½ tsp tabasco sauce, optional
  • 3 cloves garlic, smashed and sliced
  • 2 teaspoons whole peppercorns, optional
  • 2 teaspoons whole mustard seeds, optional
  • 1-2 teaspoons total of fresh or dried herbs like dill, oregano, rosemary, and thyme

For the brine:

  • 1 cup white distilled vinegar
  • ¼ cup rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  • Use a quart glass jar (or two pints) with a lid. Make sure the jar is clean by pouring a small amount of white vinegar inside, screwing on the lid, and shaking for a few seconds. Let stand for about a minute, then rinse.

Fill the jar with the prepared vegetables and any flavorings you're using, such as peppercorns, garlic, mustard seeds, and fresh or dried herbs. Set it aside.

In a small saucepan combine the vinegars, water, salt, and sugar, and cook over medium-high heat until boiling. Stir to dissolve the sugar and salt. Pour the brine into the jar so that it covers the vegetables and almost reaches the top of the jar. Let it cool down for a few minutes, then screw on the lid. Once the jar has cooled to room temperature, transfer it to the refrigerator. These quick pickles can be eaten anytime but taste best after at least one day in the refrigerator.

Can be refrigerated 4 weeks in the fridge.
